UCF Program Development

The Program Development Grant application is now open! The application period will close January 3, 2025.

Eligibility: Montana cities, towns, counties, universities, nonprofits and tribal governments

Projects may include:

  • Human and Community Health

  • Emerald Ash Borer

  • Biodiversity, Urban Forest Resilience

  • Hazardous tree removal and replacement

  • Climate change; education

  • Workforce development

  • Inventory and management plans

  • Canopy cover; ecosystem benefits

Funding Details:

  • Total Available Funding: $90,000

  • Typical Project Funding: $10,000 - $20,000

  • 3:1 Match Requirement

Trees for Indigenous Nations

Application period extended to December 13, 2024

Eligibility: Any federally recognized Tribal entity in the state of Montana, Tribal-based organizations, local and Tribal governments, and non-profit organizations that serve a Tribal community. Preference will be given to projects that take place within Tribal communities.

Example Project Categories:

  • Tree Plantings

  • Sustainability

  • Outreach and Education

  • Capacity Building

  • Tree Orchards and Food Forest Sovereignty Programs

  • Localized, Sustainable Trees

Funding Details:

Typical projects will be awarded $50,000 - 150,000.
