Invasive Species in Montana

Montana is facing significant challenges due to invasive species, which are causing social, economic, and environmental impacts. Unfortunately, Central and Eastern is an area that is often overlooked when it comes to education and outreach efforts related to invasive species.

Below, you will find more resources regarding invasive species that pose a threat to Montana.

The Central and Eastern Montana Invasive Species Team (CEMIST) is a predominately voluntary group that collaborates with local, regional, state, and federal organizations to address invasive species issues. CEMIST focuses on an underserved area and is comprised of representatives from various organizations, including Conservation Districts, Montana Fish, Wildlife and Parks (FWP), Montana State University (MSU) Extension, Montana Department of Natural Resources and Conservation, Montana Department of Agriculture, watershed groups, and Montana Invasive Species Council (MISC) members. Through education, outreach, and advocacy, CEMIST leverages the work of all these partners to combat invasive species.
